Movie actress Kemi Afolabi Adesipe has appealed to Nigerians to cease trolling her colleague and friend Mercy Aigbe after the latter’s house was destroyed in a fire.
In a rather emotional live video that was released on the photo and video sharing platform, Instagram, on Thursday evening, Kemi Afolabi unsuccessful held back her tears while pleading for support for Mercy Aigbe due to the loss.
She asked that netizens be kind with their words as there is a limit to what a person can take, no matter how strong they are. She said in part:
“Please guys, I am begging on behalf of my friend Mercy, she has been supportive. She did not send me to do this, but I feel so bad that she has to go through this.
“If you know anyone trolling Mercy Aigbe, please tell them to stop.
“We are all human, and nobody is perfect. Can you stop trolling her, please? I am begging.”
The actress also expressed disbelief at how some people could still troll Mercy Aigbe despite the devastating incident, describing it as “unfair.”
Her plea follows Mercy Aigbe’s post on Wednesday that her home had been gutted by fire.
Sharing a video of the damage on Instagram, Mercy wrote, “Devastated! Thank God no life was lost! It is well.”
The post attracted an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues, including Iyabo Ojo, Adeniyi Johnson, Faithia Williams, Blessing Obasi, Uzee Usman, Toyin Abraham, and Odunlade Adekola, who offered prayers and words of encouragement.
