Nigerian singer Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, has reacted to the recently made claims that he beat up Ogun State government officials who were at his bar on official duty.
The controversial artiste stated that he did not participate in any fight or harm anyone.
This comes after social media reports, especially on X claimed that Portable and his team attacked officials from Ogun State during a special operation at his bar.
After the incident, reports stated that the singer’s 9 associates was taken into custody, and his bar was shut down.
Portable earlier cried out that his bar and restaurant, as well as his new uncompleted building and hotel was sealed. Ogun State government criticized the situation and claimed the singer attacked the officials and frowned at his “rascality”.
In the midst of the controversy, Portable shared a video denying the accusations. He insisted that he did not engage in any fight and is being wrongly blamed. He said in Yoruba:
“It’s a youth matter, I’m a small boy. I didn’t fight anybody. I might be troublesome, but this time, I was asleep when they came to my house and bar, asking everyone to leave.”
“They went to an academy where I help young people—not just musicians but also tailors, carpenters, and bricklayers.”
“Elders, owners of the earth, they have lied against us. My glory will defeat my enemies. That house is where I buried my mother when I was 13.”
“They came and destroyed my bar, took my properties, injured my apprentices, and beat my customers before sending them home.”
“My fans, I swear to God, I didn’t fight anyone. Let them show proof that I did.”
