Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has fired back at food critic Opeyemi Famakin for defending popular chef, Tolani Tayo-Osikoya (Chef T) over claims that she ignored the actress’s request to feature in a cooking episode to promote her upcoming movie.
The issue started when Wumi Toriola publicly called out Chef T for allegedly ignoring her collaboration request.
While Chef T is yet to respond, Opeyemi took to social media to strongly defending the former, stating that she has worked too hard to have her name dragged.
He also criticized bloggers for being quick to report controversies but failing to highlight Chef T’s contributions to the food industry.
Opeyemi emphasized how no one is entitled to another person’s collaboration and recalled a past incident where an actress unfollowed him for similar reasons.
Realizing she was the one being referred to, Wumi Toriola didn’t hold back. She responded in a lengthy Instagram post, calling Opeyemi a “coward” and accusing him of seeking attention.
She dismissed his relevance in the industry, stating that he has done “more harm than good to struggling entrepreneurs” in the name of food criticism. The actress wrote:
“Dear Opeyemi,
There’s really no need to act like a coward.
My name is Wumi Toriola, and I’m merely responding to your tantrums and desperate need for attention – if it brings you even a shred of relevance, I truly don’t mind.
It’s rather amusing, though, coming from someone without a defined career or any tangible job description. You’ve caused more harm than good to struggling entrepreneurs, all under the guise of being a self-appointed food critic.
Next time you feel the urge to come for me, perhaps take a moment to reflect, establish a long-term career or build a successful business of your own. That way, your words might carry a little more weight.
Sincerely, Wumi Toriola.”
