Peller apologises for calling Runtown ‘up-and-coming artiste’ after heavy backlash

  • Peller has made an apology following some comments he made on a TikTok live session.
  • The TikToker called the ace singer an “up-and-coming” artiste, triggering backlash from netizens for such daring comments.

Popular TikToker, Peller has publicly apologised for referring to Nigerian Afrobeats star, Runtown as an “up-and-coming artist.”

Recall that during a recent livestream, Peller rejected a co-streamer’s suggestion of featuring Runtown in his livestream, insinuating that he was unknown and unsuccessful.

His myopic view on the Afrobeats maestro earned him heavy backlash across social media.

He has now bowed to pressure and tendered a public apology, admitting that he knew who the singer was.

The TikToker explained that he was “too young” to use a phone when the singer’s songs were topping charts.

Speaking in during a livestream with Elizabeth Amoudu, Peller said:

“When I was hearing Runtown’s music that time, I was too young to even use a phone.

“Peller never come town when Runtown dey Runtown. Please, forgive the poor boy. Let him breathe. God won’t shame us. I’m sorry, my brothers and sisters.”

In other news, Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has fired back at food critic Opeyemi Famakin for defending popular chef, Tolani Tayo-Osikoya (Chef T) over claims that she ignored the actress’s request to feature in a cooking episode to promote her upcoming movie.

The actress had accused the chef of being proud because she ignored her collaboration request.

Backing her claims, the actress shared a screenshot of the message she sent to the Chef, in which she proposed a collaboration for her upcoming cinema debut in 2024 but got no response.

Opeyemi Famakin took to Instagram to make a video, expressing dislike for those coming for Chef T when she doesn’t owe them anything.

The Chef herself has not reacted to the accusations online, but Wumi Toriola is not having it.
