Controversial Nigerian preacher, Oba Solomon, has urged Nigerians to remain calm and await official clarification regarding the arrest of social media critic, Verydarkman, before taking further action.

This came amidst the massive ongoing calls for users to boycott Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) over allegations of working with the EFCC to arrest their customer.

Verydarkman was reportedly arrested after accompanying his mother to a GTBank branch to address complaints over unexplained debits. While details surrounding his arrest remain unclear, his detention has sparked outrage among supporters, some of whom have launched online campaigns against the bank.

However, in a recent video, Oba Solomon refrained from joining the bandwagon of public condemnation and insisted that citizens should wait until Monday, when the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is expected to release an official statement.

“I cannot tell the government to release VDM until I know his offence. Nobody is above the law,” he said.

Oba Solomon emphasised the importance of due process and discouraged hasty actions without factual information, particularly targeting those blaming GTBank for the arrest.

“Everybody should calm down and wait till Monday when the EFCC will release the official statement on why he was arrested. If they fail to do that, we can then swear for them,” he added.
