Popular Lagos socialite and show promoter, Sam Larry, made a public appearance at the St. Stephen’s Nursery and Primary School polling unit in Lagos on Saturday, July 13, where he is expected to cast his vote in the ongoing local government chairmanship and councillorship elections.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) had earlier confirmed that voting would take place across the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas.
Sam Larry’s arrival at the polling venue was captured in a video shared by Goldmyne TV, which showed the entertainment figure stepping out of a vehicle with members of his entourage.
Dressed in traditional attire, Sam Larry was welcomed by supporters and onlookers as he made his way into the polling premises. As of the time the footage circulated online, the music promoter had not yet cast his vote, but was seen preparing to do so, with electoral officers at the venue coordinating the process.
This marks one of Sam Larry’s first highly publicized appearances since his name became embroiled in public discourse following the 2023 controversies surrounding the late singer Mohbad. While investigations related to that case remain ongoing, Sam Larry has maintained a low profile for much of the year.
The local elections in Lagos are considered a litmus test for political party dominance at the grassroots level, especially with the 2027 general elections drawing nearer. Political observers have emphasized the importance of high voter turnout and credible participation in the Saturday polls.
Sam Larry’s presence at the polling unit underscores the increasing visibility of celebrities in Nigeria’s democratic process, particularly at the community level.
