A fresh round of backlash has trailed Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State following his controversial statement directed at Labour Party’s Peter Obi, warning him not to step into Edo without seeking his approval.
The Governor’s comments, which many have described as authoritarian and undemocratic, have since stirred up intense criticism and scrutiny across social media platforms.
In a surprising turn of events, Obi supporters and concerned Nigerians began to dig into the governor’s background, unearthing what is alleged to be his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result.
The certificate, which surfaced online and has since gone viral, allegedly shows that Governor Okpebholo sat for the WAEC exam in 2008 at Liberty Comprehensive College, Jos.
The result posted by influencer and blogger Tunde Ednut purportedly shows the governor recorded mostly poor grades.

“Person wey get E8 for government dey lead government. Government dey cry.”

“Na so so 7 and 8 full am.”
Chef and entertainer Chef Dee also added:
“Based on special centre oh.” — suggesting the exam may have been taken under questionable conditions.

“Na our leader be this oooooooo eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!”

The timing of the revelation, right after Governor Okpebholo’s statement threatening Obi, has been widely interpreted as a clapback by Obi’s supporters to question the governor’s competence and credibility.
Many observers argue that such academic records, if verified, do not reflect the educational standards expected of a state governor.
