The Yoruba Nollywood industry has been thrown into mourning following the death of actress Omotola Odunsi.
Her passing was announced by Emiralty Africa blog and confirmed by colleagues, including Bakare Zainab and Yetunde Barnabas. Omotola was known for her roles in several Yoruba films, including Lisabi alongside popular actor Lateef Adedimeji.
Bakare Zainab, in a somber tribute on Instagram, did not disclose the cause of death but simply wrote:
“Goodnight. Omotola rest well.”
Mimisola Daniels in her reaction prayed:
“Motola, May your soul rest in peace.”
Ashabi, babymama to controversial singer Portable, also expressed shock over the tragic news, recalling her last moments with the actress. Ashabi wrote:
“Omoh dis one shock me oooo aunty tola. You’re one of the best actors I’m rooting for. Saw you earlier this year when I was shooting Deputy and we promised to feature each other in our next project, but now u laboured and didn’t wait to reap what life sef.”
She added:
“I remember nights you do chat to give me hope and advice. Most of your wishes we talked about didn’t even come true. GOD, we can’t question you oooo. Death is deep.”

In other news, Nollywood actor Jigan Babaoja has cried out over alleged threats to his life after his personal phone number was leaked online.
In an Instagram post, the 42‑year‑old said the threats are connected to an ongoing controversy surrounding a WhatsApp group reportedly formed after the death of late singer Mohbad. Tagging the Nigeria Police Force in his appeal for protection, Jigan vowed not to be silenced.
