Oseloka Obi, UK-based actor and son of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has firmly denied rumours linking him to homosexuality after viral photos sparked speculation on social media.
The controversy began earlier this week when images circulated online showing Oseloka in the company of another man, which many commentators interpreted as evidence of a romantic relationship.
The photos quickly trended across multiple platforms, with political opponents using the claims to target his father ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In an audio statement released online, Oseloka described the allegations as “baseless gossip” and “fiction spun from pictures,” stressed that they were deliberately circulated to discredit his family. He said he had chosen to remain silent initially but decided to respond as the rumours spiralled.
“I have refrained from engaging with the vitriol and suspicion directed at me because I was not raised to trade in lies or indulge in false narratives,” he stated.
“This pattern is familiar—opponents of my father seize ordinary photos of me and twist them into falsehoods.”
The actor and filmmaker, who has built a career in theatre and film in the United Kingdom, explained that his profession often requires him to play diverse characters, a fact which, he noted, some have deliberately misrepresented. He further distanced himself from suggestions that his personal life mirrored his on-screen roles, dismissing the claims as malicious.
Unlike many children of Nigerian politicians, Oseloka emphasised that he has pursued an independent path without relying on nepotism. He highlighted his focus on creative work and insisted that his father remains a man of integrity.
“Our country faces insecurity, economic hardship, crumbling infrastructure, and failing healthcare,” Oseloka said.
“It is unfortunate that at such a critical moment, attention is being diverted to unfounded scandals about Peter Obi’s son.”
The Politician’s son concluded by calling for Nigerians to focus on pressing national challenges rather than rumours designed to distract the public from real governance debates.
