A shocking incident has occurred at Central School Enugwu Akwu Achi, Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State, where a teacher allegedly locked a 4-year-old boy inside her office as punishment.

The teacher reportedly asked the Primary One pupil to kneel in her office after school hours, locked the door, and went home with the keys.

The little boy, who was left trapped from about 2 p.m., was only discovered around 10 p.m. after his parents and community members raised the alarm.

Rescue operation draws community outrage

The parents, joined by neighbours and school staff, broke into the teacher’s office after hours of frantic searching.

According to eyewitnesses, the boy was found terrified and exhausted, prompting widespread condemnation across the community.

Residents described the teacher’s action as “wicked and inhumane,” calling for her immediate arrest and dismissal.

Authorities launch investigation

The Chief Security Officer of Oji River LGA, Nnaemeka Anyalebechi Radica, has reportedly taken up the case and vowed that justice will be served.

He assured the public that the matter would not be swept under the carpet, adding that preliminary findings suggest gross negligence and child endangerment.

As of press time, local authorities confirmed that disciplinary measures are already being considered against the teacher involved.
