The stars turned out in style at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday night.

And, Ashanti, 40, unleashed her inner dominatrix as she exposed her toned physique in a bondage inspired outfit from Michael Costello, on the red carpet at the 2021 MTV VMAs.

The Foolish singer’s ensemble comprised a black bikini and kinky sparkling straps covering her legs and midriff, while a tie-side maxi skirt added some coverage.

Ashanti’s gown boasted gold accents and she boosted her height with a black pair of barely-there stilettos.

The star accessorised her ensemble with matching gold jewelry, including statement drop earrings.

Adding to her bold look, the Rock Wit U singer had her raven tresses styled into a floor-length plait, with the help of extra long extensions.

She looked so incredibly sexy that Nick Cannon got on his knees to kiss the songstress on the hand.

The 2021 MTV VMAs tried to kick off the pandemic-era ratings slump with fiery performances from pop icon Justin Bieber and rising sensation Olivia Rodrigo.

But before the performances got underway, Madonna made an appearance referencing the start of her legendary career and her move to New York City while removing a trench coat to reveal an edgy black leather outfit.

The annual event was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, marking the first time in eight years that the venue has hosted the show.
