BAFTA TV AWARDS 2022: Charlotte Hawkins exudes elegance in a chic floor length gown

Charlotte Hawkins cut a chic figure on Sunday afternoon for this year’s BAFTA Television Awards at London‘s Royal Festival Hall.

The 46-year-old donned a red floor-length gown, with a belted waist design and V-neckline.

She attended the bash with her fellow Good Morning Britain co-stars, as they hoped to bag the award for News Coverage – following their interview with Shamima Begum.

The beauty teamed her luxe dress with a pair of sparkling silver court heels, as she held a dress-complementing mini clutch bag.

Charlotte had her blonde tresses swept away from her face in a sleek ponytail for the awards bash.

While her complexion was highlighted with a dewy makeup look and bold red lip to match her outfit.

Adding a spot of glamour, the presenter donned a pair of silver chandelier drop earrings and a dainty bracelet.

She posed up a storm on the red carpet, before being joined by her GMB pals Sean Fletcher, Laura Tobin, Alex Beresford, Ranvir Singh and Dr Hilary Jones.

Good Morning Britain was nominated for its interview with Shamima in September 2021, held by Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley.

In her appearance, Shamima wore western clothing as she called herself a victim and begged Britain for forgiveness in the interview from a Syrian refugee camp.

She also denied being a terrorist or a criminal and insisted she had no idea ISIS was a ‘death cult’ when she joined.

The 22-year-old is banned from the UK after marrying a jihadi, with spy agencies denying her claims she was ‘just a Raqqa housewife’ and instead believe she was a member of the terror group’s feared ‘morality police’ – and was even seen stitching suicide bombers into explosive vests and carrying a Kalashnikov.

But wearing a Nike baseball cap and a low-cut vest top for the GMB interview instead of a niqab, Shamima said she is a victim of grooming by extremists, would now ‘rather die’ than rejoin ISIS and admitted she was wrong to say the Manchester Arena attack was ‘justified’ because of airstrikes that have killed civilians in Syria.

Elsewhere in the nominations, Channel 4’s It’s A Sin led the way, as it was in the running for a whopping 11 gongs.

The show’s nominations, comprising of five in the craft categories and six in the television awards categories, include nods for Davies in the writer drama category, as well as a leading actor nomination for singer Olly Alexander for his role as Ritchie Tozer.

Trailing closely behind was Landscapers, which starred Olivia Colman, has received seven nominations while Channel 4’s acclaimed pandemic-set drama Help, starring Jodie Comer and Stephen Graham has earned six nods.
