Prince Charles‘s favourite court jesters, Ant and Dec, don’t just work together, but they socialise as a pair, too, accompanied by their wives.
Ali’s absence was all the more notable because Ant’s wife, Anne-Marie Corbett, joined the Geordie duo for the glittering ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall, where they won the Best Entertainment Show prize for Saturday Night Takeaway.
Instead, a casually dressed Ali, 43, spent the weekend doing chores near their home in Chiswick, West London, where she was seen wearing a hoodie, leggings and sliders. An onlooker tells me: ‘She looked as if she might be pregnant.’
A new child would be exciting news for the couple, who have a three-year-old daughter, Isla. Dec has spoken about how fatherhood in 2018 changed his life. ‘Becoming a dad has completely transformed me,’ said Dec, 46. ‘I felt a love that I didn’t realise it was possible to feel. Everything I do, every day, is for my daughter now.’

He married Ali, his former manager, in 2015. Ant, 46, meanwhile exchanged vows with his former personal assistant Anne-Marie, 43, last year.
Ant and his first wife, Strictly Come Dancing make-up artist Lisa Armstrong, were involved in an acrimonious £31 million divorce in 2018. Ant had been in rehab for addiction to painkillers compounded by heavy drinking. He apologised for putting Lisa ‘through hell’. She and Ant first met when she was a pop singer.
Following the split, she expressed shock at seeing the first pictures of her ex and Anne-Marie together as a couple. Corbett was also her personal assistant and Lisa accused ‘my friend our PA’ of ‘breaking girl code’.
Declan Donnelly’s wife, Ali Astall, was, however, conspicuous by her absence when he and Ant McPartlin attended the Bafta TV Awards on Sunday. Pictured: Dec and Ali Astall at the 2018 Baftas
Ant and Dec have become friends of the heir to the throne.
Following a series of televised heart-to-hearts with Charles and his sons Princes William and Harry, the pair were chosen to front ITV’s coverage of the Queen’s 90th birthday.
To seal the royal approval, Ant and Dec were invited to stay at Dumfries House, Charles’s stately home in Ayrshire, in 2015, and they will be hosting the Prince’s Trust Awards for the tenth time later this month.
Does Sir Mick Jagger treat books the same way as he does women?
I ask only because he’s admitted that he struggles to devote himself to one, preferring to juggle two simultaneously.
‘I try to read one fiction book at the same time as a non-fiction book,’ the Rolling Stones singer, 78, explains. ‘Sometimes it’s hard to find a book that holds your attention.’

Jagger’s most recent read was historical: ‘It was about the history of the Ottoman empire,’ says the star, who quit as a student at the London School of Economics to join the Stones.
‘I’ve read quite a few books on empires. It was an interesting read. For instance, when the sultan was getting old and was going to die, all of his sons would assemble in what is now Istanbul and normally the eldest one would be made Sultan and he would kill all his brothers.’
Rivalries were never that bad in the Stones…
He’s a cricket tycoon who fled his native India, but Lalit Modi had no trouble attracting London society to his daughter’s Venice wedding.
Top art dealer Simon de Pury wore a pink turban as he and his diamond heiress girlfriend Carol Asscher witnessed interior designer Aliya Modi exchanging vows with U.S. health entrepreneur Brett Carlson. Other guests included Chelsea socialite Amanda Eliasch. ‘It was an amazing, lavish wedding,’ one attendee tells me.
Aliya’s father, founded the Indian Premier League in 2008.
Modi left his homeland after being accused of misconduct and financial irregularities. He denied any wrongdoing and blamed political rivalries.
ITV Platinum Jubilee Celebration presenter Alan Titchmarsh seems to be getting tetchy over comparisons about the star wattage imbalance between himself and Tom Cruise, who will make a guest appearance.
‘It’s raised a few eyebrows and given rise to a few comments, but it has also raised the profile of the event,’ green-fingered Titch allows.
‘At least I was described as a “Gardening A-lister”, so that will do me. Though as well as being a man of the earth I have also been a television presenter and talk-show host for more than 30 years now. I just want to get out there and do a good job and I am sure Tom Cruise feels the same.’
Perhaps he can upstage the Mission: Impossible star by jumping out of a helicopter into Windsor Castle’s grounds?

No-nonsene Princess Anne once used her royal protection driver as a footrest, he has disclosed.
Pc Tim Scothern, who is retiring after 30 years with the South Yorkshire force and spent 12 years in the TV series Traffic Cops and Police Interceptors, recalls when he had to collect Princess Anne from Doncaster racecourse and she got in the back of the vehicle with her boots on.
He says: ‘She put her foot on my shoulder, unzipped her boot, saying: “My man, I hope you don’t mind me borrowing your shoulder,” then took her boot off and put her foot back on my shoulder.
Her lady-in-waiting got another pair of shoes out, she put them on and said: “Thank you, my man, that was very kind.”’
That was the height of politeness compared with the verbal kicking Anne gave the Press if they had upset her.
He’s arguably the greatest pop star in the world, but Sir Paul McCartney has nightmares about playing new songs live in case fans leave.
‘It’s a recurring dream,’ the former Beatle admits. ‘I’m playing and people start walking out, and I’m trying to think of a song that will get them back.’
He adds of his audience: ‘I force some of the new stuff on them. When you say you want to do a new one, it’s like a black hole.
‘I know which ones people like because you can [then] see it all light up, all the phones recording.’

With his chiselled jawline and piercing green eyes, there’s no doubt whose genes model Mingus Lucien Reedus has inherited.
Helena Christensen has shared a rare snap with her son. ‘Being your mum is the loveliest, most magical journey and most rewarding honour of my life,’ says Helena online.
The 22-year-old, whose father is Walking Dead star Norman Reedus, hasn’t always demonstrated model behaviour. He was ordered to undergo counselling earlier this year after pleading guilty to punching a woman in the face at a New York festival.
