Filming for Black Panther 2 restarts after months-long break and Winston Duke receives 'raise'

Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever began filming again months after an injury to star Letitia Wright slowed down production.

The actress, 28, plays Shuri in the film series and was injured back in August 2021. The Black Panther 2 team filmed as much as they could without the star but had to shutdown in late November of last year.

Her agent told The Hollywood Reporter that she always planned on returning to the production even though COVID-19 vaccination is mandatory for all people on-set.

After some backlash from fans regarding her tweet, she responded ‘You have every right to ask questions about what goes into your body and ask questions until you feel you are ready.’

Wright did make it clear that it was ‘not my intention to make anyone upset [prayer hands emoji] Nor am I saying don’t take it. I’m just concerned about what’s in it that’s all. Isn’t that fair to question or ask?’

Despite the slow down in production, it hasn’t been bad news for the entire cast.

Winston Duke, who played M’Baku in the first Black Panther movie and Avengers: Endgame, reportedly received a pay raise for his expanded role in the new film.

The Us star, 35, will receive a ‘hefty raise’ according to the same THR article. Duke’s role may be expanded compared to the original plan for the movie because of Chadwick Boseman’s untimely death caused by colon cancer.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled for released November 11 of this year.
