Beau Ryan has detailed the heartbreaking moment he almost lost his mother Robyn. 

Posting to his Facebook on Thursday evening, the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here Australia star revealed it’s been one year since the tragic incident. 

‘One year ago today my mum died in her sleep,’ the 36-year-old began.

‘My Dad immediately began CPR and my sister Carly used a defibrillator to bring her back to life,’ he continued.

Alongside the emotional caption, the former NRL player shared a picture alongside his bed-ridden mum, his sister and baby nephew.

Beau also went on to mention that the family has been traumatised by the ordeal, which he explained, ‘has caused so much grief in our family.’

The TV personality also used the opportunity to promote his sister’s charity, which was born on the back of the family’s unfortunate encounter.

‘My sister set up Carly’s Helping Hearts to educate people. I’m urging people to get the education and if you can to have a de fib on standby,’ he added.

‘It’s saved my mums life and for those who know me, my mum is my everything.’

Beau is best known as an ex-NRL player, but after his retirement he first made regular comedic appearances on The Footy Show, before moving on to host The Amazing Race Australia and now appears on Studio 10 as a guest presenter.

He is currently competing on Channel Ten’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

On the home front, the Wollongong-born athlete now lives in Sydney with his wife of nine years Kara.
