Kathy Griffin claims CNN cut her pay after asking Jeff Zucker for raise

Kathy Griffin has claimed that CNN President Jeff Zucker “got very offended” when she asked for a raise before the network’s 2016 New Year’s Eve special and axed her — only to ultimately rehire her with slashed pay, according to a report.

Ten days before that year’s show, Griffin, 61, told Zucker she was “carrying more of the prep work” than CNN co-host Anderson Cooper and deserved more than the $80,000 she was owed, The New York Times reported.

The honcho “got very offended,” she told the paper.

“He started yelling at me and he literally said something like, ‘Who do you think you are calling here demanding a raise?’ And then something came over me. And I just lost it. I just started screaming,” the former “Fashion Police” co-host said.

“I’m Kathy [beep!] Griffin, Jeff, that’s who I am,” she said she told him. “I would really feel a lot more comfortable showing up if I got paid what I deserve.”

But Zucker took her demand as a threat to bail on the extravaganza and axed Griffin in a call to her lawyer, the Times said.

She said she later begged him to give her back the gig, which he did – but that he cut her pay by about 20 percent.

Zucker told The Times that her demand so close to New Year’s Eve was “completely out of line.”

“It sounds like she is acknowledging that, insofar as Kathy Griffin acknowledges she has ever done anything wrong,” said Zucker, who had given the green light to her reality series “My Life on the D-List” as chief of Bravo’s parent company, NBCUniversal.

Griffin became mired in controversy in 2017 when graphic photos appeared of her holding a severed, bloodied fake head, made to look like then-President Donald Trump.

She later issued an apology on social media and during a tearful press conference, but was fired from her job as the CNN New Year’s Eve show co-host.

Griffin last month assailed CNN over its “double standard” for firing her while it kept chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin on the payroll after his masturbation scandal.

“I think there’s another conversation that we’re not ready to have yet in this country unfortunately, she said on “The View,” according to Fox News.

Kathy Griffin told her boss she did more prep work than her co-host, Anderson Cooper did, and faced backlash.

“I think we’re hopefully making some strides finally with race. We’re having conversations at least. But I think that we haven’t really talked about the level of misogyny and ageism that went along with all that,” she added.

Griffin recently announced she was in remission after undergoing surgery to remove half her lung due to cancer.

CNN didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.
