Lil Nas X looks worse for wear as he's held up by bodyguards at VMAs afterparty

He won the coveted video of the year award during Sunday night’s VMAs, held in New York.

And Lil Nas X, 22, wasn’t shy about celebrating his win, with the rapper looking worse for wear while being propped up by bodyguards after partying the night away post-ceremony at celebrity haunt 1OAK.

Also in attendance was VMA’s 2021 host Doja Cat, 25, who looked glamorous when she stepped out rocking mermaid blue hair.

For his night on the town, Lil Nas X – real name Montero Lamar Hill – made sure all eyes were on his rock-hard abs.

The hit-maker donned bubblegum pink leather trousers and a matching jacket, which he wore unzipped.

Doja Cat, meanwhile, swapped her toga-inspired Vivienne Westwood look for a strapless vinyl dress and accessorised with an eye-popping choker necklace.

The singer, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, made her hosting debut at the end of the week and also performed her songs Been Like This and You Right, which saw her put on an aerial act of sorts, flying around the stage held up by wires.

By the end of the evening Doja took home the award for Best Art Direction for the song Best Friend (with Saweetie) and Best Collaboration for her tune Kiss Me More featuring SZA.

Meanwhile, Lil Nas X was electric as he arrived at the Brooklyn-based awards ceremony wearing a gorgeous lavender Versace suit, taking plenty of inspiration from Prince.

Accepting the night’s top award, Lil Nas X gushed: ‘I do not take this for granted.’

The three-hour event was held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and also saw Justin Bieber scoop up the artist of the year award, while Olivia Rodrigo’s drivers license was hailed song of the year.

Elsewhere, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker looked like quite the pair while gracing the red carpet, with the retiring reality star, 42, appearing to embrace her beau’s darker style, rocking a sexy leather dress by designer Oliver Theyskens.

Besides her, the Blink-182 drummer rocked a spike-heavy suit without a shirt to reveal his tattooed chest.

Travis simply couldn’t keep his hands off his love, hugging and caressing her hips and stomach as the cameras snapped.

Then he pulled her in for a passionate kiss, going all out with a bit of tongue.

The night didn’t play out without its fair share of drama, as Machine Gun Kelly and mixed martial arts superstar Conner McGregor got into an altercation.

It all went down as Kelly and McGregor were both posing for photographers on the red carpet with their respective partners – Megan Fox and Dee Devlin – by their sides just before the start of the show.

Kelly’s movie star girlfriend Fox was among the people who stepped in between the two would-be fighters, and then wrapped her arms around him as the couple were led off past the growing crowd that had gathered.

According to McGregor’s representative, the fighter does not know who Kelly is and insisted that his client wasn’t the one to start the scuffle.
