Gemma Owen has denied claims she’s ‘in talks’ to appear on the upcoming season of Love Island.
The beauty, who is daughter to England football pro Michael Owen and his wife Louise Bonsall, exclusively told MailOnline she’s not heading to the Spanish villa this summer.
EXCLUSIVE: Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma, 19, has denied claims she’s ‘in talks’ to appear on the upcoming season of Love Island
The source previously told the publication: ‘ITV bosses are scrambling to get her signed up for this year’s Love Island. However, if talks are successful, it’s likely to be a huge payday for Gemma too.’
‘Weeks spent lounging about in a bikini is going to give her beachwear line the sort of boost most firms can only dream about and make her a huge star herself.’
The reports come less than two months after Gemma said that Love Island is ‘not something that I would do’.
Desperate: According to The Sun, a source said that ITV2 are ‘scrambling’ to get Gemma, who owns her own swimwear brand, for the dating show
Strict: However, Gemma has admitted that her dad Michael would not approve of the decision to go on the dating show
In an exclusive chat with MailOnline, the star explained: ‘I watch Love Island every summer but right now it’s not something I would consider doing because I am not looking for love at the moment.
‘Some of the challenges on Love Island, they’re quite out there. I’m not sure I would be able to kiss 10 boys in a row but I do think it’s a great show.’
She also admitted that her strict dad wouldn’t approve of the show, sharing: ‘But boys aren’t on the cards right now and my dad wouldn’t be very happy at all if I came back and said “I’m going on Love Island.”
Coming soon: ITV2 have already been teasing the return of the show, as it is set to air on June 6
‘I would need to wait until I’ve moved out,’ Gemma concluded.
Gemma, who has represented Britain at dressage, launched her own swimwear line earlier this year, with the source explaining that the show would be a great marketing opportunity for the range.
But the beauty has recently opened up to MailOnline about nasty comments regarding the range, with trolls claiming she is ‘another rich footballer’s kid living off their daddy’s money’.
Shutting down claims: In an exclusive chat with MailOnline, the star explained: ‘I watch Love Island every summer but right now it’s not something I would consider doing because I am not looking for love at the moment’
Challenges: ‘Some of the challenges on Love Island, they’re quite out there. I’m not sure I would be able to kiss 10 boys in a row but I do think it’s a great show,’ she continued
Hitting back at the claims, the businesswomen said: ‘It’s constant but I want to make it clear to people that with the business side of things it hasn’t been an open wallet.
‘I got given some money for my birthday and that was my budget. I quickly ran out of that and there are so many more things that I want to do with the brand but I am going to have to wait now until the money comes back in.
‘I am extremely lucky but I would say my dad has actually been… not tight, but he’s been quite tough. He said this is your budget and I’m not funding this,’ she cleared up.
Love Island is reportedly set to return to ITV2 on June 6.
