Olivia Colman is star in Great Expectations for BBC
Olivia Colman is to set star in the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel Great Expectations.
The Oscar-winning actor, 48, will play the role of wealthy spinster Miss Havisham in the six-part series created by BAFTA-winning writer Steven Knight.
The stellar cast will also feature Fionn Whitehead, alongside Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Hayley Squires, Owen McDonnell, Trystan Gravelle and Matt Berry.

Great Expectations is the coming-of-age story of an orphan nicknamed Pip. Charles Dickens first released it in a series of weekly chapters beginning in December 1860 before it was subsequently published as a novel.
Martita Hunt played the role of Miss Havisham in the 1946 film version.
The hotly-anticipated series will also be executively produced by the team behind the BBC’s 2019 adaptation of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

Lucy Forbes, who previously worked on BBC series This Is Going to Hurt, will act as lead director with Mark Kinsella as producer.
The broadcaster had previously produced a three-part drama titled of the same name which was written by Sarah Phelps in 2011.
It starred Gillian Anderson as Miss Havisham and Douglas Booth as Pip with the miniseries being well received by viewers.

The action centres around protagonist The Man (played by Jamie Dornan), who wakes up with amnesia in an Australian hospital, following a car crash, and has to piece together his identity and past life.
Shalom played Luci Miller, a waitress who became entangled in The Man’s journey – and may even hold mysterious links to his past.
Fionn Whitehead, who has starred in Dunkirk and Black Mirror’s Bandersnatch will play Pip, the orphan at the center of the coming-of-age story.
The actor who is known for roles will next be seen in ‘The Duke’ from the late Roger Michell.
Meanwhile, there was disappointment for Olivia earlier this month as she missed out on a nod for a BAFTA nomination.
The screen star – who picked up a BAFTA two years ago for The Favourite – was not recognised for her latest role in The Lost Daughter, however co-star Jessie Buckley received a nod for Supporting Actress, and the film is also up for Adapted Screenplay.
