He’s virtually done everything else in film, it’s about time Jesse Eisenberg (Zombieland, The Social Network) directed a film? Guess what he is! The film stars Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard in a complicated story of a mother and son attempting to connect. One runs a Domestic Abuse shelter, the other an online sensation.

When it comes indie film making on a string or no budget, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson are the pair you should check out. Especially if you love your films with a big Lovecraftian influence, their latest certainly looks to follow suit. With a big Meta ride that will take us deeper down the rabbit hole when a supernatural force brings two neighbours together. Things go astray in friendship when they learn of something darker lurking under the city.

HONK FOR JESUS, SAVE YOUR SOUL COMEDY
Satire seems to be a big thing in political films, now lets turn to religion. Possibly more trickier to try not to offend, add Regina Hall and Sterling K Brown. The duo want to save your souls in the mist of scandal as the first lady of a Southern megachurch. If anything in this dark comedy it’s her husband who just seems to lose the congregation in their flocks.

When it comes to her film choices especially on the independent film circuit Aubrey Plaza has done well. That looks like it may continue with John Patton Ford’s debut film as Plaza plays the titular role. A student who finds herself in a dire position, plagued by debt forced to take drastic measures to survive. It seems to be a common place now, people drowning in debt, going to university or university of life, that’s capitalism for you.

Another Sundance film with Regina Hall in Mariama Diallo’s feminist thriller or is it a horror? Whatever genre we’re intrigued to see this one as three women try to fit into a New England University in what looks a predominately white campus. Zoe Renee, and Talia Ryder also star in this one which has racism and the supernatural clash as things are not what they seem at the elite university.
