Comedian and actor, Bovi Ugboma, has said the rise and acceptance of skit makers in the entertainment industry will not affect stand-up comedians.
“Anytime I get that question, I get worried because what they do is online, and there is a market for it. What we do is offline and there is a market for it as well.
On what distinguishes him in the entertainment industry, the comedian said, “I just do me and I make sure I always challenge and reinvent myself. I also constantly evolve so people would not get bored. If one does not reinvent oneself, people will find one predictable.”
Asked what he thinks of entertainers supporting politicians, he said, “They are not just beginning to do that. They have been doing that for a long time. Entertainers are humans and they have a right to support whoever they want to.”
Bovi also stated that there is a difference between him as a comedian and as an actor. He said, “The actor plays different roles and assumes new personalities. Meanwhile, the comedian tells his story in a comical way, so there is a huge difference in the sense that, when I am acting, I am not being me 100 per cent.”
