VIDEO: “How I turned down a job opportunity in Ministry of Petroleum to do comedy”

Famous skit maker, Sophia Chisom, better known as ‘Soso The Pure Water Seller’ has reflected on life prior to stardom and venturing into comedy.

Speaking with BBC Pidgin, Soso opened up about being a Political science and Public Administration graduate from the University of Port Harcourt.

According to her, she served in the Ministry of Petroleum as a corps member and had a great chance of getting retained but she backed off owing to the fact that she never wanted a 9-5 job.

Soso asserted that her father felt he wasted his money and resources sending her to school after she opted for skit making.

She avowed that she actually started by posting several pictures online before she got the idea of creating comic content from her manager and that was how she dived into comedy.

Soso revealed that the skirt she usually wears in her skits belongs to her mother while the top is a random cloth she picked from her wardrobe. She disclosed that it was their last born that bought the black bowl for her after she gave him/her money for it.

Sophia Chisom left a word of encouragement for other content creators out there as she urged them to continue being consistent even when it seems like things aren’t working in their favour.
