Jackson State went into yesterday’s Celebration Bowl undefeated ready to put an exclamation point on their season. Before the game, Deion Sanders fought back tears talking to the team. While Jackson State clearly had the talent, NC State took their same three plays and used them to win the celebration bowl. Even with Travis Hunter’s last-second TD in regulation to tie the game, overtime would seal NC States’ victory 41 – 34. A dropped TD pass from Hayden Hagler essentially ended the game. The dropped pass ruined the Jackson States’ hope to end the as champions.
Of course, social media made jokes the only white player on the field ruined the HBCU championship game. In the locker room, Deion sanders used the moment to remind Hagler it would only make him stronger in life and in situations off the field.
