Shanty Town: What it took me to get into the character of Inem

Popular Nollywood actress, Ini Edo reflects on the rigorous training sessions she underwent in a bid to execute her role in the movie ‘Shanty Town‘ effectively.

In a post on Instagram, the actress avowed that it took her 3 weeks of intense training in martial art to properly fit into the role of ‘Inem’ in the movie.

She posted videos of her training sessions, some of which dates back to 2021. The talented thespian also hinted at doing 90% of her stunts all by herself.

Reflecting on her dive into martial art courtesy of the movie, she wrote:

“It took me 3 weeks of intensive training of mixed martial arts with @@Sensei_pierce who also played the role of Top Gun in the number one trending series on Netflix Shanty town , to get into the character of Inem. The physical challenge was one of the major reasons I jumped on that role…As an Actor, I had been craving for a character that would challenge me both physically and artistically , stepping away from my comfort zone made me feel alive artistically ! Am fulfilled by your reviews and humbled .”

Reminiscing on some of her incredible stunts, the 40-year-old wrote:

“The trainings for #shantytown were so intense and am grateful for the process. I did 90% of my stunts myself if I should say so myself ? Great Job @sensei_pierce.”

She also opened up about attending Jackie Chan’s masterclass.

“If you talk you go collect! Do you believe I attended Jackie Chan’s masterclass ??? If you doubt me , I will be delivering receipts for all y’al,” Ini Edo asserted.
