NCAA lauds Dana for safety standard

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has commended Dana Air for grounding its airplanes for proper maintenance checks.

The Director General of NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu, disclosed this exclusively to our correspondent in Abuja.

According to Nuhu, Dana Air grounded all its aircraft to carry out maintenance checks on them.

“They noticed that some of their aircraft were due for maintenance and they informed us accordingly. I think it is commendable for an operator to ground its aircraft for maintenance,” the NCAA boss stated.

He further noted that the airline would notify the authority once they were done with the maintenance check.

Meanwhile, the airline had in the early hours of Friday informed its customers in a statement via its official Instagram handle that due to the general elections on Saturday, February 25, there will be no flight operations.

The airline, however, said that operations would resume on Sunday, February 26.

“However, we will be operating as scheduled from Sunday, 26th February 2023.”

When asked the NCAA boss if the airline would resume operations by Sunday, he said, “The agreement is that they will notify us when they are due to resume and I think they said they are going to send us something today, once they give us and we are okay, then they can resume operations.”
