The Managing Director, International Breweries Plc, Mr Coutino Carlos, has said it is important for women to increase their capacity and be more involved in the tech sector.
He spoke during a programme in Lagos on Wednesday on the 2023 International Women’s Day with the theme, “#EmbraceEquity’, with focus on ‘DigitalAll: Innovation and technology for gender equality’. The reason for the theme was to recognise and celebrate the women and girls, who were championing the advancement of transformative technology and digital education.
The event was attended by female professionals in the tech sector and other stakeholders who were doing well in their chosen career. The ladies shared their experiences on how they were making impacts in the society.
He said, “However, despite its importance, the field of technology has historically been dominated by men. It will be great to have more women one on board; it is time to run at full speedy, time to run at full capacity as we create a future with more cheers.”
He noted that tech had transformed the world and its impact continued to be felt in every aspect of lives from smartphones to social media, from artificial intelligence to blockchain.
He said, “At International Breweries Plc, we are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our business, including technology and that is why we will be launching something really exciting for young female tech fans today.
“We are proud to have many talented men and women on our team who are making significant contributions to our technological advancement. We are also proud that women are making headway in various social fields such as data analysis, software development, cyber security experts and technology professionals.”
He commended women making a difference, most especially in tech.
“Your passion, creativity, and perseverance inspire us all, and we are proud to stand with you in your search for excellence,” he said.
International Breweries, he added, was committed to building a more diverse and inclusive technology sector, where women could thrive and excel as men.
