Lagos to host ‘circular economy hotspot’ event

The Lagos State Government is set to host the Circular Economy Hotspot event in fulfilment of its pledge to achieve an inclusive transition to a circular economy.

The event which has over the years converged different stakeholder categories seeks to promote circularity as is practised within a host city to the world.

According to a statement, the 2023 hotspot event is particularly novel as it will be hosted for the first time by three cities across three continents, namely Lagos (Nigeria) from April 25th to 28th;  Dublin (Ireland); and finally in Santiago de Chile (Chile).

The event, inaugurated since 2016, and has recorded an impressive tour around Europe, will be hosted alongside the African Circular Economy Network, and the Circular Economy Innovation Partnership.

With the theme, ‘Towards a Circular and Resourceful Economy: The Future Lagos,’ the event comes just after the previously held World Circular Economy Forum Lagos Studio in December 2022, solidifying the place of Lagos as a circularity champion in Africa.

The event seeks to promote businesses within the state, the country and continent at large to a global audience, attracting trans-boundary collaboration, knowledge sharing and investments.

It will be kicked off with a fundraiser event supported by the Consulate of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Lagos later this week.

Additionally, it will bring stakeholders together to address challenges impeding this transition and map out the path to success for the state, country and continent.
