Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, a Grammy nominee, has explained why he slapped a police officer in a recent viral video.
In a widely shared video, the afrobeat singer can be seen assaulting a police officer who is on duty.
Kuti responded via his Instagram account on Saturday, saying the police had tried to kill him and his family.
He said that the policeman had expressed regret and had been pardoned.
He urged anyone who claimed he was after influence to mind their own business and prevent the police officer from losing his job.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the Inspector General Of Police, Usman Baba has ordered his arrest.
Kuti wrote, “He tried to kill me and my family. I have the proof but I no dey chase clout. He has apologised and I have agreed not to press charges.
“Make una mind una business make the poor guy no lose him job,” [sic].
