Former federal legislator Shehu Sani has spoken out in response to the arrest of Afrobeat artist Seun Kuti.
Kuti has been handcuffed and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, in Panti for additional investigation and probable incarceration.
Recall that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, ordered Kuti’s arrest a few days ago after his argument with a police officer on the 3rd Mainland Bridge.
Kuti was seen on video attacking a uniformed police officer.
In response to the situation, Sani claimed in a tweet on Monday through his account that there was no need to arrest Kuti, who freely surrendered himself.
He tweeted, “Even though I have been handcuffed for many years, there’s no reason to handcuff Seun who has voluntarily surrendered himself.”
