Divine Ikubor, a Nigerian artist best known by his stage name Rema, asserts that the passing of his father changed his mindset.

According to the artist, he didn’t take life seriously as a child until his father passed away, at that point he learned the importance of family.

Rema revealed on the Afrobeats podcast hosted by Adesope Olajide, that before the loss of his father, Mr. Ikubor, he was very mischievous and uncoordinated.

He stated that the passing of his father brought out a different side of him, a side that understands the importance of life and family.

“It shaped me, to be honest. It shaped my mindset, my mood, you know.

“There was a point in time I was very colorful, I would say. I was funny, running around, and unserious. I never took life seriously until when I lost my dad. And it just shows different sides of people. It just shows the importance of family as well.

“Yeah, as siblings we might have our fights, and quarrels but you never know when you will just not see them again; the people you are closest” he said.

The emergence of a video showing Rema offering apology to his fans and vowing to reschedule his show in Atlanta has evoked diverse responses from internet users.

During his performance, the ‘Calm down’ crooner was visibly upset as he voiced his grievances about the venue organizers, stating that they had shown disrespect not just towards him but also towards Afrobeats as a genre.

Clad in a hooded jacket, Rema reportedly expressed his discomfort with the heat inside the venue.

After performing just two songs, the Charm crooner walked off the stage, and the disgruntled crowd responded by shouting in discontent. See video here..
