Suzuki mulls products to reduce energy cost

Suzuki said it is working on practical ways to mitigate the impact of high fuel prices on Nigerians.

Energy costs in Africa’s largest soared appreciably as the Federal Government completely removed subsidy on diesel and petrol recently.

The price of petrol surged by 215.95 percent in one year as that of diesel also increased by 2.60 percent, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) price watch for July 2023.

The NBS showed that the average price of petrol per litre increased from N238.11, after the removal of subsidy to N600.35 in July. On a month-on-month basis, it increased by 9.99 percent from N545.83 in June this year.

The General Manager of Suzuki, Aissatou Diouf, said in a statement sighted by The Punch on Thursday, “With many Nigerian car owners with limited disposable income and corporates with depleted fleets feeling the financial strain, the search for vehicles that strikes a balance between budget-friendliness with long-term returns on investment has become more critical than ever.

Diouf further highlighted that, “In times of economic prudence, Suzuki by CFAO remains a pragmatic choice for those seeking cost-effective ownership solutions without compromising on quality and dependability.”

Over the past decade, Suzuki’s relentless pursuit of excellence in engineering, particularly the continuous enhancements to their K-Series engines, has yielded an impressive 30 percent increase in fuel efficiency. On average, Suzuki models achieve an outstanding fuel consumption rate of 22 kilometers per litre, with tank capacities ranging from 28 to 45 litre.

As a testament to Suzuki’s impressive fuel efficiency, an experiment was conducted where four individuals embarked on a round trip from Lagos to Ibadan using only an estimated quarter tank of fuel. This experiment was meticulously documented in a video available on the company’s official social media channels.

“The compact Suzuki Swift stands out with exceptional fuel efficiency at 20.41 kilometers per liter, making it a top choice for that prioritizing economical fuel consumption,” he said.

Suzuki has carved a niche in the minds of Nigerian car buyers due to its reputation for reliability, value for money, solid after-sales support, and accessibility to quality spare parts.
