‘Stop disrespecting Mohbad’s son, let his wife mourn’ – Iyabo Ojo warns against DNA demands (VIDEO)

  • Iyabo Ojo strongly criticized those who are urging for a DNA test to be carried out on the child of the deceased singer, Mohbad.
  • Internet users recently intensified their demands on Mohbad’s wife, to “consent” to a DNA test in order to conclusively establish the child’s biological parentage.

Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo strongly condemned those exerting pressure on Omowunmi, the widow of the late rapper known as Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, to undertake a DNA test to confirm her son’s paternity.

In recent times, some Nigerians have persistently urged the rapper’s widow to proceed with a DNA test for her five-month-old son to prove that he is Mohbad’s child.

A businessman named Larry Omodia even offered a generous sum of N10 million to support Mohbad’s widow in conducting an “all-expenses-paid” DNA test if she agreed to it.

However, in response through a video message shared on her Instagram account, Iyabo Ojo expressed that the calls for a DNA test were “insensitive.

She said, “All these distractions of DNA test, you people should please allow Mohbad’s family to mourn. If Mohbad’s parents want a DNA test, they can request it. You and I don’t have the right to tell them to do a DNA test.

“Mohbad never told anyone that his son wasn’t his son. But if the officers investigating his death feel there is a need to conduct a DNA test, they will. We need to be very sensitive, please. Why are you guys bullying the poor lady [Mohbad’s wife]? Leave her alone.

Mohbad, the 27-year-old street pop singer, died on September 12 and was buried the next day.

The circumstances surrounding his death has been met with widespread controversy on social media.

On September 18, the Lagos police inaugurated a 13-man special investigation team to probe Mohbad’s death.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos, also engaged the Department of State Services (DSS) in the ongoing investigation.

Earlier on Thursday, the police revealed that they have exhumed Mohbad’s corpse.

In a recent update, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos state police spokesperson, reported that the autopsy has concluded, and they are now awaiting the results.
