- In a recent interview, Mohbad’s father spilled the beans on how the love story between his late son and his wife unfolded, amid the controversy and rampant speculation surrounding the singer’s tragic passing.
- Both the father and Mohbad’s wife have found themselves in hot water lately, as fans lambaste the singer’s father for swiftly laying his son to rest without thoroughly probing the circumstances of his demise.
- Simultaneously, the late singer’s wifey is also in the eye of a storm, contending with relentless demands for a DNA test on their child, making it a real hotbed of drama and tension.
Joseph Aloba, the father of Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, has disclosed how the late singer met his wife, Wunmi, at Naira Marley’s Marlian Music label.
Mr. Aloba, in his chat with the PUNCH, painted Mohbad as a down-to-earth and unpretentious soul. He stated that the connection between Mohbad and his wife, Omowunmi Aloba, dates back to their early days in Oke-Iletu, Ikorodu, Lagos, but it wasn’t until they reunited at Naira Marley’s label hangout that sparks flew.
According to him, before their reunion, there were no romantic ties binding them together.
Aloba brought clarity to the story using the 2020 song “Komajensun” by Mohbad. He pointed out a telling lyric, “Naira lo gbe omo fun mi, I’m not a womanizer,” in the song, which serves as a musical breadcrumb hinting at how Mohbad and Wunmi’s paths intertwined once again when he joined Marlian Records.
“He (Mohbad) met the lady (Wunmi) there (at Marlian Music) but they had known each other from Oke-Iletu, even though the lady was a student then,” Aloba disclosed to this reporter.
The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation to uncover the events surrounding the artist’s demise.
In the meantime, the Coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s passing has scheduled October 13, 2023, as the date for witnesses to present their testimonies.
Notably, Rapper Falz’s mother and attorney, Funmi Falana, who represented Mohbad’s family alongside other legal experts, held a private session to deliberate on the procedures for presenting evidence.
