‘Research-backed entrepreneurship key to better future’

The Group Managing Director, Capitalsage Holdings, Mr John Alamu, has stressed the need to encourage researches to boost entrepreneurship for the economic development of the country.

Alamu, who is also the Managing Director of the Johnvents Group, said it was always better for entrepreneurs to first engage in research before entering into any business venture.

He stated this at the first public lecture he delivered at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, on Thursday. The lecture was titled, ‘Research and Entrepreneurship: keys to driving the GDP and economy of developing nations.’

Alamu described entrepreneurship as a driver to economic growth. He, however, noted that although the path to harnessing entrepreneurship for nation-building was not without challenges which include, regulatory hurdles, access to finance among other obstacles, yet, the challenges were not insurmountable.

He said,”The various definitions of entrepreneurship show that the word ‘opportunities’ is a recurring theme. This is because the timing must be right, the customer has to be right, and the place has to be right to make everything come together to make sense. How else can one predict these things without the knowledge to search and research and find out more?

He argued that every great entrepreneur must first be a researcher.  He noted that Elon Musk achieved his space expedition as Olugbenga Ayoola created a fintech unicorn in less than a decade, while John Adedamola Alamu built the next-generation indigenous conglomerate driving empowering and inclusion solutions across fintech, financial services, agribusiness, FMCG logistics and export and healthcare for a sustainable and inclusive Africa.
