Why Mohbad’s wife, dad are yet to file their statements at court registry

Funmi Falana, a prominent human rights advocate and the proud mother of Nigerian rapper Falz, has shed light on the reasons why the family members of the late singer, whom she is legally representing, have been have been reluctant to submit their statements to the court.

Recall that the Lagos State government had set up the inquest in response to public uproar and a formal request from Femi Falana, SAN’s law firm, concerning the abrupt demise of the late musician.

The Coroner’s court, sitting in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, on Friday October 13, summoned Rapper Naira Marley, Socialite Sam Larry, and Mohbad’s friend Primeboy to appear before the court on October 25, 2023. They are to provide testimony regarding their alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death.

During a preliminary report on the police investigation into Mohbad’s demise, IPO Ajibola clarified to the coroner that there was no apparent connection between Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the nurse who administered an injection to Mohbad, and the two other suspects, Naira Marley and Sam Larry.

According to the video report shared by TVC, Mrs. Falana, in her public statement, revealed that Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi Aloba and father, Joseph Aloba, have not yet delivered their official statements to the court registry, Lagos police command, or other relevant parties.

Their explanation for the delay revolves around still being in the throes of shock and wrestling with the agonizing loss of their son.

Funmi Falana vowed to roll up her sleeves and make sure they step up to the plate as witnesses in the forthcoming court hearing, aiming to lend a helping hand to both the police and the court in their quest to unravel the mystery surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
