Nipco Gas Limited has announced the inauguration of its auto Compressed Natural Gas station in Kubwa, Abuja, which would provide economical and environmentally friendly fuel for transportation.
It said the station commenced operations over the weekend, describing it as an affirmation of the company’s determination to ensure widespread availability of auto CNG across the country.
“As the nation grapples with the challenges of fuel expenses and environmental sustainability, and seeks cleaner energy alternatives, Nipco Gas is at the forefront of driving positive change in the country’s energy landscape,” the company stated in a statement that was made available to our correspondent on Sunday.
It said, “This newly commissioned (sic) station is a testament to the company’s mission to drive positive change in the country’s transportation sector. It is the company’s belief that the path to a sustainable future starts with transformative initiatives. The launch of the Kubwa AutoCNG Station exemplifies our commitment in action.”
The firm noted that auto CNG, known for its cost-effectiveness and significantly lower carbon emissions compared to traditional fuels, was positioned as a beacon of environmentally responsible transportation.
The Managing Director of Nipco Gas Ltd, Nagendra Verma, said the firm was dedicated to enhancing CNG accessibility throughout Nigeria.
Verma expressed optimism about the positive impact that increased CNG adoption would have on both the environment and the economy.
The Federal Government has been striving to make CNG readily available across Nigeria, as it pushes to make gas Nigeria’s energy transition fuel.
The government is using the CNG initiative as a strategic move to diversify the nation’s energy mix and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on conventional fuels such as petrol and diesel.
It aims to harness the potential of CNG as a cleaner and more affordable alternative for use in vehicles nationwide.
