Flavour raises alarm over fraudsters impersonating him to scam others

  • Flavour has raised an alarm over some fraudsters who are impersonating him on social media with intent to defraud his fans.
  • The singer took to the microblogging platform, X, formerly known as Twitter to warn his fans to beware of falling for such theatrics.
  • Flavour added that he would never beg his fans for money and advised they do not encourage such conversations if it does take place.

Nigerian singer, Flavour, has issued a public advisory regarding people using his name and photos to defraud unsuspecting victims.

He disclosed via his official X account that fraudsters are still impersonating him online and noted that he will never ask fans for money.

The ‘Nwa Baby’ crooner said anybody who has come in contact with such impersonators should report them to the appropriate authorities.

Flavour wrote;

“Scammers are still in the business of impersonating me online. Please be aware that I will NEVER ask fans for money or any personal information.

If you’re contacted by someone claiming to be me, DO NOT engage with them and please report the account to the appropriate authorities.”

In a similar post in 2023, a scammer impersonating popular actor, IK Ogbonna was arrested and charged to court after defrauding unsuspecting victims.

Also actor Frederick Leonard reacted to the arrest of a scammer who impersonated him and scammed a woman of N104m.

The imposter identified as Kelvin Aisosa Orhue was arrested by the EFCC and arraigned before the FCT High Court in Kuje.

In the same breath, a man was also sent to prison for impersonating popular actor, Bolanle Ninalowo aka Nino B.

On Friday, February 17, 2023, Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Warri, convicted and sentenced the man, Omoghan Destiny Igbinosa, to prison on separate one count charge of impersonation and obtaining by false pretence, just months after the actor cried out about it.
