Afrobeats Superstar, Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, garnered attention online as he reveals a surprising revelation about his past experiences with a former school teacher during his visit to his alma mater in Edo State.

The chart-topping artist stirred up excitement by dropping in at his  secondary school, Ighile Group of Schools in Edo State, catch up with some of his former teachers.

In a trending online video, Rema was seen engaging with his assembled teachers, recounting his journey from a student to a globally acclaimed singer.

Rema revealed a striking detail about his former teacher, Uncle Esosa, who clandestinely facilitated his escape from school to pursue his passion for music in the studio.

While acknowledging the teacher’s unconventional support, Rema admitted the actions were against the rules, but credited him for playing a pivotal role in his journey to becoming who he is today.

This is coming few days after The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, hosted the Edo-born musical prodigy, Rema, for lunch at the Government House in Benin City, Edo State.

In viral video shared by WITHIN NIGERIA, Rema thanked the people of Edo State for being supportive throughout his musical journey, expressing appreciation to the governor for caring for young people in the State.

He noted: “We spoke about a lot of important things, especially his programme for the young people. It’s very beautiful to see a governor that cares for the future. He does not only have a vision for his tenure but beyond the eight-year period. We have so much in stock for the young people of the State.

“I would not be here in the first place if not for the youths in Nigeria. They are the people I am part of, live for, the people I inspire and motivate. They are the next generation.”
