Don Jazzy on Nigerians not being receptive to female musicians

  • Don Jazzy stated it is sad that Nigerians don’t consume much music from female artistes compared to their male counterparts despite their hard work.
  • This was in response to an  X user’s concerns over the issue, saying Nigerian female artists have more chances of becoming global A-list than in Nigeria.

Nigerian music executive and producer, Don Jazzy, has expressed his disappointment and concern about the lack of support for female musicians in the country.

According to him, Nigerians are not very receptive to music by female artists, despite their dedication and hard work.

This issue was brought to the forefront by a social media user, @Lahon199x, who pointed out the disparity in the music industry.

The user noted that while female artists in other countries are thriving and equally represented, their Nigerian counterparts face significant challenges.

The X user wrote: “Nigerians in general are still not receptive to Female music

“You will see female dominating or at least equal to the men in other countries’ music industry.

But In Nigeria?..Our female artistes have more chances of being A-list globally than being A-list in Nigeria.”

In response, Don Jazzy emphasized the dedication and effort that female musicians pour into their craft, lamenting the lack of appreciation from the Nigerian audience.
