Burna Boy expressed that he stands apart in this regard. He proudly declared himself as an Odogwu and asserted that he is solely responsible for the lyrics of his songs, without any outside assistance.

Any name you see credited on my songs are only producers of the songs or featured artists not writers. But for some reason the western world considers producers as writers of the instrumentals and they just throw their names on there as writers. Nobody fit write for Odogwu” Burna Boy said

In reaction, Daniel Regha pointed out a past tweet from Burna Boy in 2020 where the artist acknowledged enlisting the help of Peruzzi for songwriting.

Daniel called into question Burna Boy’s recent assertion that he never receives songwriting help, emphasizing that songwriting credit is given to those who co-wrote or contributed to the writing process.

He highlighted the difference between Burna Boy’s previous acknowledgment of collaboration with Peruzzi as a songwriter and his current stance on songwriting credits.

He reminded Burna Boy that claiming sole credit for songwriting contradicts the industry standard where credit is only given where it is due.

Quoting Burna boy’s post on X , Daniel wrote:

Burna, this was u in 2020 giving credit to Peruzzi as a songwriter, but suddenly nobody writes for u? For the record, no one gets songwriting credit unless they co-wrote or contributed to writing the song, so you’re statement isn’t valid”.
