Hilda Dokubo, the iconic Nollywood actress, has vehemently denied ever being suspended as a member of the Labour Party (LP) at her ward in Asari Toru local government area (LGA) of Rivers state.
Dokubo, who also holds the title of LP’s chairperson in Rivers, found herself at the center of a maelstrom of controversy after it was reported that she had been suspended on Thursday following an emergency meeting of the party’s ward executive committee on July 15.
The veteran actress was accused of a litany of charges including financial misconduct, abuse of office, and flagrant breaches of party regulations, among other damning allegations.
A letter allegedly addressed to the LP chairman of Asari Toru, signed by ward chairman Ajalamonia Ibama, secretary Lole Amacheer, and treasurer Emmanuel Ibamathe, indicated her suspension.
However, in a defiant and fiery video posted on Instagram, Dokubo slammed the reports, declared that she was never, at any point, suspended from the Labour Party.
She didn’t just stop at denying the suspension; she went on to expose what she called a sinister plot against her.
Dokubo boldly claimed that the names listed in the supposed suspension letter were all members of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), hell-bent on smearing her reputation.
She revealed a series of insidious actions taken against her, stating she had been coerced, threatened, and even bribed, but these allegations were just a new, malicious tactic to bring her down.
With unwavering determination, Dokubo detailed the relentless attempts to undermine her position and credibility.
She painted a vivid picture of political subterfuge and personal vendettas, where foes from the PDP, estranged members of Labour party, orchestrated a campaign of deceit to tarnish her image and force her out of the political arena.
