- Paulo Okoye stated that Rema needs to do more shows and attract a huge fanbase to earn his price tag.
- Paulo also claimed that the earnings of Rema and his colleague, Asake have dropped.
Music executive Paulo Okoye has shared his thoughts on afrobeats singer Rema’s career path.
In a conversation with media personality Daddy Freeze, Paul Okoye stated that Rema’s current pricing exceeds his market value.
Okoye acknowledged Rema’s talent and international recognition, noting that he is regarded as a prominent figure in African music. However, he believes that Rema needs to expand his fanbase and perform more shows to justify his current price tag.
He said:
“Rema is on another level, he’s a Gen Z superstar. He’s our major face of African music. They [Western world] regard Rema the same way they regard American artists.
“But the problem about Rema at the moment is overpricing. I think he overpriced himself. He needs to do more shows to build a huge fanbase to earn his price tag.”
Paulo Okoye also discussed the earnings of Rema and fellow artist Asake, suggesting that their income has decreased in recent years.
He cited figures indicating a drop from $4-5 million to $2-3 million in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
Paulo also stated that Burna Boy is Nigeria’s richest artist.
According to Paulo Okoye, Burna Boy earned between $70 million and $80 million in 2023 alone.
During the podcast, Paulo discussed Burna Boy’s modest team structure, noting that the artist’s immediate support network includes only his mother, sister, and a few close associates.
He highlighted that despite his immense wealth, Burna Boy remains humble and avoids boasting about his financial success.
