The tragic tale surrounding Nigerian singer Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known as Patoranking, has sent shockwaves through social media as the heartbreaking deaths of his sister, Chioma, and her husband, George O Buchi, leave fans and netizens reeling in anguish.
Just a day after the devastating news spread like wildfire online, fresh and shocking details emerged, painting a grim picture of the events leading up to this unfathomable loss.
Initially believed to be the result of a gas explosion, the narrative took a dramatic twist when an Instagram post by film producer, media personality, Seun Oloketuyi surfaced, revealing insights from Chioma’s close friend, Uchechi.
Uchechi stepped forward with a harrowing account of the tragic incident she claimed unfolded on August 25, 2024, at the couple’s newly acquired duplex in Ebonyi State.
On that fateful day, according to her, Chioma and George were enjoying a quiet afternoon upstairs with their three-year-old son, blissfully unaware of the looming danger. Suddenly, George detected a suspicious burning smell wafting through the air. Alarm bells ringing, he decided to investigate, with Chioma following closely behind, leaving their little one blissfully asleep upstairs.
Uchechi said as they approached the door to identify the source of the ominous scent, catastrophe struck—a deafening explosion tore through their home, leaving George severely burned and plunging him into a coma. Chioma, too, suffered burns but showed incredible resilience, managing to call friends and her father for help before neighbors rushed them to the hospital.
She described how Chioma, despite her injuries, remained coherent enough to take calls, showing a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos. Tragically, that hope dimmed when she died, succumbed to her injuries on August 30 at around 7:38 PM, leaving family and friends shattered.
Further complicating the narrative, the claims of a gas explosion were swiftly debunked. Seun Oloketuyi’s investigation revealed that neither the couple’s gas cylinder nor their inverter battery was responsible for the blast, and the generator house was positioned far from the main building.
