Liam Payne, a member of the popular boy band ‘One Direction’, has passed away tragically, following a fall from the third floor of a hotel.
The incident occurred on October 16, 2024, at a hotel located on Costa Rica Street in the Palermo neighborhood of Argentina, as reported by police statements given to CNN.
Authorities arrived at the scene after receiving a report about an individual exhibiting aggressive behavior, suspected to be under the influence of substances.
TMZ revealed that, Payne was exhibiting an unusual behavior in the hotel lobby prior to his death, breaking his laptop and needing assistance to return to his room.
Further details from the outlet indicate that Payne had been in Argentina with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, since September 30, where the couple shared various social media posts from their vacation. Cassidy departed the country on October 14, leaving Payne to check into the CasaSur Palermo Hotel.
Earlier in the month, Payne had attended a concert by former bandmate Niall Horan, where the One Direction members were seen reuniting and taking photos together.
Best known for his contributions to One Direction, which also featured Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Horan, Payne’s rise to fame began in 2010 when the group was formed on the UK edition of The X Factor.
