- He labeled him a social media lawyer for mentioning Burna Boy’s name.
Music executive Paulo Okoye has publicly addressed Deji Adeyanju’s claims that Burna Boy was involved in Speed Darlington’s recent arrest.
Paulo Okoye took to Instagram to challenge Adeyanju’s assertion, questioning his motives for mentioning Burna Boy’s name.
He emphasized the importance of respecting individuals’ names and reputations, especially when making serious accusations.
He wrote:
“ Lawyer Deji or whatever they call you, can you put respect on Burna Boy’s name? Why are you even mentioning Burna Boy’s name?
“You are nothing more than a social media lawyer! Lawyer my a** Get your facts right before you open your gutter mouth. Control your client.”
This was after Adeyanju revealed that Burna Boy was the one behind Speed Darlington’s rearrest.
Speed Darlington’s re-arrest was confirmed by popular Abuja-based lawyer Deji Adeyanju, who is also the legal counsel to social media critic Martins Otse Verydarkman.
Deji disclosed on Wednesday morning, November 27, that Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi by his fans, was re-arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri, Imo state, at his show following his return to Nigeria. The lawyer wrote:
“Our client Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria,”
In another tweet, Deji Adeyanju linked Speed Darlington’s rearrest to Burna Boy. The activist-turned-lawyer also berated the Grammy award winner for his action. He wrote:
“Burna Boy behind harassment of Speed Darlington by the police. This is someone who has being singing against oppression and forming junior Fela now oppressing Akpi.”
This marks Speed Darlington’s second arrest, following an earlier incident on October 4. The artist, also referred to as Akpi, was released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in detention.
