Nollywood actress and film producer, Ruth Kadiri has issued a strong message to Nollywood actors, urging them to resist the mounting pressures placed on them by some producers.
In an Instagram post, she criticized producers who demand that actors give them one million views on projects within a single day, describing such expectations as a sign of poor production planning.
Kadiri emphasized that the success or failure of a production cannot solely be determined by the actors’ popularity or ability to draw instant views.
She averred that a good production requires more than an actor’s face, urging actors to focus on the quality of their craft rather than being burdened by unrealistic benchmarks.
She also shed light on the nuances of platforms like YouTube, pointing out that many lack an in-depth understanding of how such platforms function.
Kadiri warned actors not to let this ignorance affect their confidence or steal the joy they derive from their work.
The actress further called out producers who are quick to critique others without making any meaningful contributions to the industry by investing in people.
In her words:
“DEAR NOLLYWOOD ACTORS!!! TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR SHOULDER!!!
ANY PRODUCER WHO REQUIRES ONE MILLION VIEWS FROM YOU IN ONE DAY HAS FAILED! A GOOD PRODUCTION REQUIRES MORE THAN YOUR FACE!
ONE MILLION VIEWS IS NOT A STANDARD OF SUCCESS NOR! FAILURE.
SO MUCH Y’ALL DONT KNOW ABOUT YOUTUBE DONT LET THIER IGNORANCE RUB YOU OF YOUR JOΥ!”
The ones who never invest in anyone are the ones with the most NONSENSE to say about others!”
