Renowned Nigerian singer Stanley Didia popularly known as Omah Lay, has disclosed that he does not smoke cigarettes but exclusively smokes marijuana.
The statement came during his appearance at the Paris Fashion Show in France, where he was spotted holding a cigarette.
Omah Lay who debuted a new look that sparked controversy on social media gave his reason for holding a cigarette.
A media personality has approached the artiste after noticing the cigarette in his hand and offered him a lighter.
In response, Omah Lay clarified, “I don’t need one. I don’t smoke cigarettes. I only smoke marijuana. This [cigarette] is props.”
Meanwhile, Shallipopi in a similar case scenario claimed that he doesn’t smoke despite posing with cigarettes in his various pictures and videos.
Shallipopi claimed that he merely poses with cigars for aesthetics.
The ‘Oba Pluto’ crooner disclosed this in a November interview with Soundcity Africa.
In the same vein, in June 2024, singer Korede Bello recalled how his environment influenced him into smoking cannabis when he was younger.
The ‘God win’ hitmaker said he eventually gave up the habit after discovering that it wasn’t his “thing.”
Featuring on a recent episode of the ‘Say My Piece’ podcast hosted by actress cum media personality, Omotunde Adebowale David, aka Lolo1, Bello disclosed that as a child, he used to witness his father smoking.
The singer said despite his father being a smoker and sending him on errands to buy cigarettes, he warned him against smoking.
Omah Lay explained that because of his father’s advice and his experience, he developed a mindset that smoking is “unhealthy.”
