Fashion entrepreneur and celebrity stylist, Toyin Lawani, has raised alarm over the long-term side effects of epidural injections, warning expectant mothers to think twice before opting for it during childbirth.

In a video shared online, the mother of three revealed that she has been struggling with severe back pain and a degenerating spine since receiving epidural anesthesia for the birth of her last two children.

According to Lawani, while doctors inform women about the immediate side effects of the injection, they fail to disclose the lasting damage it could cause.

Doctors tell you about the side effects but do not tell you about the long-term effects on your body. I have about three friends having the same issues I am having. I am just 42, how did I end up with spine issues? I have implants in my spine, I go paralyzed, I can’t stand for long, and sometimes I can’t even breathe properly,” she lamented.

She further explained that her first childbirth was through natural birth, but she opted for epidural in her last two deliveries, with the last one being medically necessary due to surgery.

Despite the relief it provided at the time, she says she continues to endure excruciating pain daily.

“The pain does not stop. My back is killing me, and my spine is degenerating,” she added.
