Adesua Etomi shares relatable experience as pregnant woman commits suicide over hyperemesis

  • This comes barely two weeks after the movie star opened up on suffering from hyperemesis while pregnant, amongst other struggles.

Nigerian actress Adesua Etomi Wellington has shared her battle with hyperemesis gravidarum following the death of a woman who also battled with the sickness.

According to an American media outlet People, the woman, identified as Jess Cronshaw, took her life while struggling with the debilitating condition, which is persistent severe nausea and vomiting, often leading to weight loss and dehydration.

It was reported that Jess committed suicide after the extreme morning sickness left her bedridden and without relief.

Reacting via her Instagram story, Adesua expressed her frustration over people finding it difficult to understand how serious the condition is. She appreciated her husband, doctors, family, and friends for rallying around her.

The mother of two stated that the ailment isn’t ordinary morning sickness and is a serious condition that affects the quality of one’s life. She wrote:

“When I talk about the seriousness of hyperemesis gravidarum, people don’t get it and I hate it. I am grateful for my husband, my doctors, family, and friends who rallied around me.
It is not an ordinary morning sickness. It is a serious condition that literally affects the quality of your life”.

While celebrating her 37th birthday on February 22nd, Adesua Etomi reflected on the past year 2024, describing it as a traumatic period.

The actress and mother of two shared her struggles with months-long battle with hyperemesis, her husband, Banky Wellington’s surgery to remove another cancerous tumor, an emergency C-Section and a harrowing healing journey.
