Self-proclaimed Nigerian online watchdog, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has fired back with defiance after the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, issued a bench warrant for his arrest over alleged criminal defamation of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
The court had earlier directed the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to arrest and produce him in court to face the charges against him. Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna handed down the order on Thursday, March 13, 2025, after VDM failed to honor a summons issued on March 5.
Despite appeals from his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, urging the magistrate to reconsider and allow him to present his client personally, Iyanna stood firm, insisted that security agencies bring VeryDarkMan to court.
In a fiery response from China, where he is currently at, VDM dismissed the arrest order as both laughable and unjust. He questioned why the court refused to consider his absence from Nigeria when the lawsuit was filed, accused the judiciary of wielding the law as a weapon rather than a tool for justice.
With his characteristic boldness, Verydarkman, in the new video, framed the entire ordeal as a calculated attack from the judiciary, vowed to expose corruption within the system.
The crusader made it clear that stepping back into Nigeria in handcuffs over order for his arrest, changes nothing, declared that his voice will not waver, nor will his truth be silenced.
He remained unshaken in his claim that Mercy Chinwo is wielding her influence within law enforcement to crush and silence her former record label boss, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, also known as Eezee Tee.
